April 23-30, 2011 is National Infant Immunization Week (NIIW).
  • Before the age of two, children receive about fourteen vaccines, which have helped protect children against potentially fatal diseases such as Measles, Pertussis, and Influenza.
  • The NIIW campaign is an opportunity to further promote infant and child vaccinations.
  • The theme this year is "Vaccinate Your Family, Protect Your Community". By immunizing infants and protecting children from disease, other individuals in the community who cannot receive vaccines due to health, age, or other factors can also be protected.
